#WEWILL Campaign

Collective action to end harassment and empower women runners.

#WEWILL is a grassroots campaign founded by women runners to raise awareness of the pervasive sexual harassment experienced by women while running and to drive positive, collective action that enables women to run freely and safely. The campaign mobilizes both men and women to pledge specific behavioral changes, fostering a culture where safety and respect are prioritized and normalized. By focusing on small, individual actions, #WEWILL aims to create long-term societal change and has already galvanized widespread discussion and commitment within the running community.

What you should know:

  • The goal of the campaign is to end the normalization of harassment against women runners and to shift the burden of safety from women to society at large. The campaign aims to ensure that no woman has to change her running habits out of fear.

  • Individuals are urged to take the #WEWILL pledge, share it online, and actively work to change behaviors in their communities. The campaign also encourages reporting incidents and supporting those who have been harassed.

  • The campaign has sparked significant engagement on social media and within running communities, raising visibility of the issue and prompting both discussion and action. Notably, 69% of women report not feeling safe or adjusting their behaviors when running, 79% have been shouted at, and 31% have considered giving up running due to safety concerns, underscoring the campaign’s urgency and relevance (Women’s Running National Running Survey 2021).
