She Runs: An International Research Network Investigating Harassment Experiences in Women’s Running

SHE RUNS is an international research network involving 22 academic institutions across 13 countries. The project examines women’s experiences of harassment while running and aims to address the current lack of international collaboration on how political, social, and cultural contexts shape these experiences.

What you should know:

  • The qualitative research will contribute to new and existing global and local campaigns by giving stakeholders stronger evidence about experiences of harassment and violence against women and girls, specifically when running, and its impact on women’s health, wellbeing, freedom, and daily lives worldwide.

  • Women of any age or fitness level are invited to take part in one or more of three activities: a group discussion, a written or visual diary, or a go-along interview in which participants walk their usual running route with a researcher. Offering several formats is intended to make participation as accessible and comfortable as possible.
