BOLDLI: The London Running Community Putting Women's Safety First
BOLDLI is a London-based running community and purpose-led company dedicated to making running safer and more inclusive for women. Through events, research, and advocacy, they work to address safety concerns in both street running and run club culture. BOLDLI aims to challenge toxic run club cultures that can make women feel excluded or unsafe.
What you should know:
BOLDLI hosts regular runs in London, including a monthly evening social run for women, an opportunity to build confidence and connect with other runners in a supportive environment.
In 2025, BOLDLI collaborated with Altra Running on the "Stay Out There: She Runs Free" initiative at the Kielder Marathon, in which women documented their experiences of barriers to safety in running. They partnered again in 2026 on a relay covering 145 miles from London to Birmingham.
Their Running Safety Survey collects data from runners to better understand safety experiences, with findings used to develop a universal Code of Conduct for run clubs and support community training initiatives.
As of April 2026, BOLDLI is currently developing an app that will help runners find local run clubs and social runs, rate them on safety features, and access safety tips supported by real data.
