Jimmy Schneidewind
10-time marathoner and sport for good practitioner
Jimmy’s history with running predates even his earliest memories. In recent years, he has found a home at the marathon distance, completing 10 marathons in total. He is passionate about using sports, especially running, as a tool for youth development, gender and racial equality, environmental awareness, and community cohesion. He currently is the coordinator of a youth run series in his county of Maryland, a regular volunteer with Special Olympics and Girls on the Run, an Advisory Council Member of the Girls Gotta Run Foundation, and a contributor to Ashoka’s Reimagining Youth Sport Project.
"Running should be a simple act of freedom — but when women and girls don’t feel safe in public spaces, it becomes a human rights issue. If we can ensure that women and girls are safe to run on their own terms, we can uncover powerful insights into how to build a society that works for everyone."
