#LetHerRun Women’s Safety Campaign by Marathon Sports (2020)

Advocating for safer running environments for women through awareness and community engagement in New England.

Launched in October 2020 by Marathon Sports and its affiliated brands, the #LetHerRun campaign aimed to spotlight the pervasive issue of harassment faced by women runners in New England. By collecting personal accounts, organizing virtual events, and partnering with organizations supporting domestic violence survivors, the campaign sought to foster a safer and more respectful environment for female runners.

What you should know:

  • Key activities Marathon Sports organised for the campaign include that they collected and shared anonymous experiences from local women runners who faced harassment and they hosted a virtual #LetHerRun event with all net proceeds supporting homes for domestic violence survivors in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Connecticut.

  • They partnered with Brooks Running to donate over 50 pieces of clothing to these homes.

  • The campaign brought the conversation about women's safety in running to the forefront, leading to increased community engagement and support for survivors of domestic violence.
